About this place

Widely regarded as one of Scotland's most beautiful glens, with free forest and loch walks near Cannich.

Glen Affric is often cited as one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland, its loch framed by remnants of ancient Caledonian pine forest and a ring of dramatic mountains that make it a favourite among landscape photographers as well as families. Waymarked trails from the car park near Loch Affric range from short, easy loops to much longer routes into the surrounding hills, giving a genuine choice depending on the ages and stamina of the group. Red deer, golden eagles and pine martens are all present in the glen, though genuinely spotting any of them takes patience and luck. It's free to visit, with parking at the trailhead, and while shorter paths are manageable, longer routes involve rough, hilly terrain.
