About this place

Lochside spot with a famous oyster bar and easy shore walks.

This spot on the shore of Loch Fyne at Cairndow is best known as the home of the original Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, opened in 1978 and credited with helping popularise Scottish seafood well beyond the local area. Beyond the food, easy shore walks along the loch give families a chance to stretch their legs with the water close at hand, and the surrounding hills make an attractive backdrop. It's a relaxed, low-key stop rather than a full attraction, well suited to breaking up a longer drive through Argyll. It's free to visit the shore itself, with parking available and a charge only for food.
